Last Friday, the Arrecife Civic Center hosted the "Concert No. 2" which has the generic title "Music, Woman and Art". Within the program of the "VII Arrecife Classical Concerts Cycle" organized by the Lanzarote Classical Orchestra.
On this occasion, it included the introduction of the president of the Mararía Association, Nieves Rosa Hernández, who exalted the role of women in daily life and in the fight for gender equality and achieving the same rights. Accompanied by part of her board, she outlined the purpose of the Association while photographs of different moments of Mararía created in 1994 were projected.
Immediately afterwards, the concert by the Lanzarote violinist Pablo Araya began, who began with Bach's Partita 1 for Solo Violin in B minor, performing its five movements with enviable mastery. For the rest of the program he was accompanied by the Lanzarote pianist Melba Artiles and with whom he performed the sonata for violin and piano No. 32 in B flat major by Mozart, and ended with works by Falla, Albéniz, Kreisler and Ravel.
The interpretations were at an excellent level, the duo "Pablo Araya and Melba Artiles" conquered the public for their great professionalism when interpreting and the complicity between them. Pablo and Melba were surrounded by their family and friends, among whom were also part of their teachers and music students who did not want to miss this performance by a Lanzarote violinist.
Pablo Araya, began his studies at the Conservatory of the Cabildo of Lanzarote with Professor Alfaro and continued at the Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands. He obtains a scholarship to study in Vienna obtaining the highest grades at the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands. Since 2022 he has been doing a Master's degree in Salzburg and in his extensive career despite his youth he has been concertmaster of the young Orchestra of Spain and has performed in Poland, Portugal, Mexico, Sweden, Russia and Austria.
The pianist Melba Artiles, comes from a family of musical tradition, began her studies at CIEM and continued at the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands, continuing her studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Franz Liszt Academy of Budapest, continues with a Master of Interpretation and Research at the UAX of Madrid, currently combines her pedagogical work at CIEM with concerts that she has performed at the Adán Martín Auditorium with the OST. at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium etc.
The next concert will feature the award-winning international pianist Konstantin Sokhovetski arriving from the United States. The event will be on Friday the 10th at 8:00 p.m. with works by Zubeldia, Aldave Tchaikowsky and Strauss, the introduction will be given by MargaMod, an artist linked to fashion for many years in Lanzarote.
