An official lighting without prior notice but that aims to invite residents and also those visiting the island of Lanzarote, to enjoy and consume the municipality of Teguise. The Historic Site of the Villa has been showing off since Friday evening, the result of a new installation of low-consumption LED lights, which illuminate the main squares, streets, and roundabouts of Teguise, coinciding with the official lighting in many cities that have already inaugurated some parties marked by the pandemic and its restrictions.

Oswaldo Betancort, accompanied by his government team and some residents, toured the main points of the town of Villa "in which it has been invested to encourage the upcoming Christmas dates and stimulate the economy of the municipality", said the mayor of Teguise, recalling the customs that have always represented the history of a town with a lot of tradition, such as the Ranchos de Pascua, "and that we will celebrate again this year although with the limitations imposed by the health crisis, from which we hope to get out as soon as possible."

The garlands of lights that adorn the Plaza de La Constitución de la Villa and a sign on the roundabout at the entrance to the Historic Site join the Christmas decoration of the roundabouts at the entrance to Costa Teguise, Tahiche, Mozaga, and other towns in the municipality, including La Graciosa.

"Teguise is preparing a special program to boost these festivities with music, culture and different events in which the social and cultural groups of the municipality will be involved, because despite everything, we want to offer the illusion and the festive and family atmosphere typical of Christmas," said the head of Culture, Nori Machín.

Theater night in the Villa

The Municipal Theater of the Villa hosted on Friday night the play directed by Francisco Hernández Delgado, official chronicler of Teguise. "A home without a family" was represented by the Esperanza Spínola Theater Group (and its actors Carmen Rosa, Andrés and Araceli), in commemoration of the International Day against Gender Violence, celebrated last November 25. A play that collects the family drama having gender violence as the main plot and in which Jesús, Pino and Plácida intervened, giving voice to various texts, and that had the collaboration of Norberto de León Luzardo in the technical part.
