The city of Arrecife is finalizing preparations to transform itself into the World of Fantasy in which it will allegorically become from this Friday the 21st when the carnival groups kick off one of the main festivals of the capital of Lanzarote until its dramatic conclusion on Wednesday, March 4 with the Burial of the Sardine.
A festival that will have as its epicenter, as far as its main events are concerned, the Puerto Naos area and the grounds of the old Agramar cannery, where the deputy mayor and councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, travels daily these days to supervise the installation work of the stage, bleachers, children's leisure area, stalls and other gastronomic stands.
Eugenio trusts in "the success of the transfer to the port area of the main events of the Arrecife Carnival and recalls that the decision was adopted in a consensual manner by the City Council and carnival groups mainly as a way to harmonize the right to enjoyment while also to the rest of residents in the city center".
The Agramar venue will also have a large stage that will host the main events such as the reading of the proclamation, the adult and children's murga contests, the recovered Gala for the Election of the Queen of the Carnival, as well as the Children's Queen and Sovereign of the Carnival, the Drag Queen Gala or the Canine Costume Contest, with stands with capacity for 2,200 people that will be supplemented when the event requires it with 800 chairs.
It will also have an area called 'La Recova en Carnaval' that will have five traditional stalls as well as a 'Children's City' with games, animation and surprises for children. In addition, another 26 gastronomic stalls reserved for hotel companies will be installed on Avenida de Naos, which will serve as supplies for the multitude of masquerades that are preparing to enjoy the most fun party in the third most important capital of the Canary Islands.
