With the audience's reaction when he took the stage, it was already possible to sense that Lucky, a 4-year-old cocker spaniel, was among the favorites to win the individual costume prize at the Playa Blanca Canine Carnival, and he certainly did, with an impressive tailor-made pilot suit perfectly matched with Shantal García, his owner, who accompanied him as a flight attendant this Thursday in Plaza del Carmen during the presentation of their attractive allegory.

The Canine Carnival awarded the two best creations in each of the three categories proposed by the contest: individual, couple, and group. Thus, the dog Katty, interpreting the allegory of Shakira with Piqué, a doll she carried between her teeth, was worthy of the second prize, equally applauded by the public.

For its part, the jury chose Loky as the winner in the couple category, with his allegory of the treasure, including a chest full of gold, with second place for Maya and Peiper dressed as cowboys. In the group category, Luna, Arena, and Calcetín took the highest honors sporting 'Beautiful and beloved Mexico', the allegory of the Playa Blanca Carnival 2025, the three pets exhibiting very well-crafted costumes, even with a Mexican straw hat, while the second place went to Coco, Chanel, and Dior, accompanied by two celestial cherubs.

The Canine Carnival is a festive gathering that also serves to send a message of awareness about responsible pet ownership and the search for homes for dogs that are currently cared for at the Yaiza animal shelter. The City Council, represented at the Canine Carnival by the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Águeda Cedrés, and the Councilor for Festivities, Daniel Medina, thanked the Doggys del Sur protectorate and the municipality's volunteers for "their daily work and commitment, day and night, to the care and attention of animals."

Neighbors and visitors had a good time at the Canine Carnival, infected by the charisma of the magician José Ángel, the hospitality of the townspeople, and their desire to show off homemade costumes. There were dogs dressed as other animals, aliens, allegories of TV series, explorers, cowboys, in short, a waste of ingenuity, but above all, a lot of joy and demonstrations of love for animals.
