The Haría City Council celebrated the XVIII edition of the MalabHaria International Circus Festival, which took place from January 2 to 4, and which has been consolidated as "one of the most important circus events at the national level".
With the sponsorship of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (Inaem), the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands, this event brought together more than 2,000 people in three days of spectacle, creativity and emotion.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, congratulated the effort and dedication of the winners, and highlighted that "from the Consistory we will continue to promote this festival as an emblem of our municipality and the Canary Islands".
The first deputy mayor and councilor for Culture, Evelia García, added that "this event is a sign of Haría's commitment to culture and the performing arts. Its success is a reflection of the collective effort of all the people who make it possible, from artists to the public".
The stages of the La Tegala Theater Hall, the Haría Square and the Municipal Sports Hall became the epicenter of circus art, offering a high-level international program. Renowned companies and artists from the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Chile, Argentina, Portugal, Spain and Lanzarote delighted the public with performances that included acrobatics, carrying, aerial fabrics, acrobatic bicycles and much more.
MalabHaría 2025 Awards
In this edition, the MalabHaría International Circus Festival was also the stage to recognize the talent and dedication of the participants through the MalabHaría 2025 Awards. The Wes Peden Company won the award that distinguishes those who best internalize the essence of the festival, demonstrating an exceptional artistic and creative commitment.
The Audience Award, given to the best show in long format, went to the Roi Borrallas Company, whose work 'Solo' captivated the attendees with its originality.
In addition, the festival highlighted the quality and effort of other figures in the circus world with special awards. Quentin Signori was recognized with the Circaire Special Award, while Rosa Smich received the Pdcirco Special Award, both reflecting excellence and dedication.
The Haría City Council thanks the artists, companies, technical staff, sponsors and, above all, the public, for the support that makes it possible for this event to continue growing and maintain its essence as a space for creativity, inclusion and art.
