The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Cabildo of Lanzarote, will host the XIII Qué Bueno Canarias Restaurant Awards, which this year are held in the emblematic Auditorium of Jameos del Agua, a space created by the artist César Manrique in the heart of a volcanic tube, where nature and culture merge to offer a unique experience.
"From both institutions we want to congratulate all the nominees in this edition, and especially the establishments and professionals of our island, whose effort and talent continue to position Lanzarote as an enogastronomic reference inside and outside the archipelago. Their work contributes to enriching our culinary identity and consolidating excellence in the restaurant sector," they declare.
The president of the Island Corporation, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted that “gastronomy has become a hallmark and a fundamental economic engine for the island, consolidating our island as a destination of reference for enogastronomic tourism”. After congratulating all the professionals nominated in this edition, Betancort stressed the importance of the landscape-agriculture binomial as a differentiating element. “Our products, cultivated with effort in volcanic lands, reflect the uniqueness of Lanzarote and its ability to turn adversity into authenticity,” he added.
For his part, the councilor of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, has highlighted the nomination of the Castillo de San José in the category of Best Canary Reflection Cuisine, highlighting the effort and dedication of the gastronomic team of the Castillo de San José Restaurant to offer a high-quality culinary proposal based on local products. “The Castillo de San José is a clear example of how gastronomy can merge art, history and tradition with innovation and creativity in the kitchen. Our commitment to excellence and the use of local ingredients has allowed us to position ourselves among the great references of Canarian gastronomy,” he said. In addition, Vázquez highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the restaurants of the Centers, which not only offer exceptional gastronomic experiences, but also reinforce the identity of Lanzarote as a cultural and culinary destination of the first level.
Likewise, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, has stated that these awards “not only distinguish talent, but also encourage us to continue strengthening the island's gastronomic proposal, positioning it as a first-class attraction for those who visit us”. “The work that is carried out in Lanzarote, from the heroic viticulture of La Geria to the innovation in the cuisine of our restaurants, is worthy of recognition and support,” he added.
