The modernization of the urban image of Arrecife in the surroundings of Manolo Millares street will, in a few weeks, "revitalize the terrace area and boost economic activity." Yonathan de León has received confirmation from several hoteliers with premises on this road that they will "open in the afternoon after the completion of the works."
One of the mayor's objectives is focused on "boosting the commercial, restaurant, and hospitality area located in the capital of Lanzarote." Until now, many of the hospitality establishments located in this area preferred to open only in the morning. With the renovation of a section of Manolo Millares street, on the exit to the south of the island, the sidewalks have been widened and shaded areas have been created with the planting of trees, which will allow in a few weeks "greater enjoyment and citizen leisure, both for residents and tourists."
Progress of the works before the opening of the academic year
On the other hand, Yonathan de León, who makes periodic visits to the municipal works, has announced that the sidewalks on the north side of this sector of the street "will be completed before September 11," with the opening of the educational centers. In addition, the sidewalks in the southern sector "have been completed since last August." In this area of Arrecife are located the CEIP La Destila and Antonio Zerolo, and the IES Las Salinas. The capital's mayor, also head of the Department of Public Works, hopes that the new pavement "will allow a safe return of students to their centers."
The Arrecife City Council has planned, jointly with the construction company of this work, the execution phases so that they "affect as little as possible the commercial activity, the residents and the development of the San Ginés festivities," held last August, with one of its central stages in the El Reducto area. Now the beginning of the academic year, with the mobility of students in their entrances and exits to educational centers.
The execution of these phases has managed to minimize the inconveniences that any work generates in a neuralgic road.
Access to garages for El Greco and Valls de la Torre streets
The City Council of the Lanzarote capital also informs that "in parallel" to this modernization in a section of Manolo Millares street, the City Council is also executing "the remodeling of Valls de la Torre streets and the pedestrianization of Fred Olsen Avenue," between the Hotel Lancelot buildings and Guenia street.
From this week, access to the garages located in buildings on Valls de la Torre and El Greco streets "is done through Manolo Millares."
Once the works on Manolo Millares street are completed, which will have "three lanes for traffic," "vehicles coming from the airport road will access the maritime avenue through Valls de la Torre street", which will change its direction for car traffic.
