The company Horinsa has been awarded the contract for the works that must culminate the rehabilitation of the House of Culture of Arrecife, and that will begin in the month of January. Horinsa will be in charge of carrying out the last phase of intervention in the historic building, for which it has presented a budget of 331,700 euros. From the beginning of the works, Horinsa will have one month to execute them

In that period of one month, "the final requirements necessary to put the property into use for exhibition and administrative purposes will be met", explain from the Consistory. These last touches will be the adaptation of the toilets, restoration of the carpentry, including the main staircase that connects the two heights of the building, painting, installation of piped music and telecommunications, plumbing, electrical installation, lighting, fire-fighting material, installation of an elevator, wood treatment, waste management and safety and health actions.

In addition, the general Budget for 2015 of Arrecife contemplates a specific item for the House of Culture, for an amount of 400,000 euros, which "will presumably serve for the acquisition of furniture and diverse material that allows the opening of the emblematic property", explain from the City Council.

The mayor of Arrecife, Manuel Fajardo Feo, has expressed his "satisfaction" for the "impulse given to the rehabilitation of the historic building during his mandate", noting that it could be completed throughout 2015.

"Indisputable patrimonial value"

"The House of Culture has indisputable patrimonial values and its location on the marine facade of Arrecife gives it enormous attraction within the capital's tourist circuit, which also includes the Plaza de Las Palmas and the Church of San Ginés, the History Museum Castillo de San Gabriel, the Casa de los Arroyo and the Charco de San Ginés", says Fajardo.

For her part, the Councilor for Culture, Eva de Anta, has highlighted the expansion of the space that will be put into use inside the building and its roof and the installation of a Library specialized in artistic and cultural content.

"After the opening of the Arrecife History Museum, our priority is now to inaugurate the new stage of the House of Culture, fully restored, to host exhibitions and receive visits from tourists and residents", said the mayor.
