Drag Gio was proclaimed the winner on Friday night of the Drag Queen Gala of the Arrecife Carnival 2025, which featured the participation of ten aspiring queens who gave their all on the main stage of the Agramar Venue.
Recovered last year under the direction of the Department of Festivities headed by the Deputy Mayor, Echedey Eugenio, this second edition of the Arrecife Drag Gala overflowed with ingenuity, wit, creativity, audacity, satire and extravagance, making it clear why it is one of the most anticipated and successful events of a Carnival that already shines at the level it deserves as the third most important capital in the Canary Islands.
With a packed venue and a completely dedicated audience, Agramar vibrated with a high-level show in which each and every one of the participants showed their art with dazzling fantasies and impressive staging.
The big winner of the night was Drag Gio, who with her fantasy 'I prefer to be a weirdo of society than just another white sheep of humanity' conquered the jury and the public, taking the first prize of 500 euros and a sponsorship valued at 3,000 euros to represent Arrecife in the Drag Gala of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2026.
The second prize, endowed with 300 euros, went to Drag Nilo with his spectacular proposal 'Chacha, well yes. In the end, you are a beast', while the third prize, of 200 euros, went to Drag Solsticix, who showcased his talent with 'It is touched but not looked at'.
The Gala, presented by journalist Laura San José and the iconic Exuberancia Carey (Drag diva with an impressive career of more than 15 years and transformist actor, featured the performance of Drag Ávalon, winner of the 2024 edition, who made the audience vibrate with his spectacular staging.
In addition, it included an electrifying tribute to Beyoncé with the transformist Amber, who came from Fuerteventura, as well as the impressive performances of the Lanzarote transformists Abigail Merino, Assia Shaik, Miss Jessica and Lena Evans.
One of the great moments of the night was starred by the singer Jorge González, known for his time on 'Operación Triunfo 2006', runner-up of 'La Voz' and winner of 'Tu cara me suena 8'. His performance raised the temperature of the venue, making the public enjoy an unforgettable show.
