The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, congratulated all the participants and highlighted the importance of this event within the island's festive calendar. "Carnival is an expression of our identity and tradition. Seeing our elders enjoy and be the protagonists of this celebration is a source of pride for all of us. My congratulations to Aurelia Rodríguez and all the participants for giving us such a special night," said Betancort.
For her part, the Cabildo's Councilor for the Elderly, Nori Machín, also wanted to congratulate the winners and highlight the enthusiasm with which they have experienced this experience. They are the soul of our traditions, and this gala has been a reflection of that," said Machín.
The Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, congratulated the Cabildo's Department for the Elderly, led by Nori Machín, for the organization of the gala and thanked the City Councils for their involvement in the celebration "of this endearing event that undoubtedly contributes to enhancing the Carnival of Arrecife with an essential group in its development, such as our elders."
During the event, special recognition was also given to such prominent figures of our carnival as the endearing Charlotte de Arrecife, La viejita del perejil (The little old parsley woman), and, posthumously, the beloved and missed Tomillito.
