Last Friday night, the painter Ana Morales Ramos inaugurated her first exhibition in the halls of the Sociedad Democracia. The event took place in the presence of the president of the centennial society, Lorenzo Lemaur, members and friends.

The exhibition features 18 oil paintings where the painter has been inspired by landscapes, native plants and flowers. Morales Ramos, resident in Lanzarote, studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca. Subsequently, she has worked teaching plastic arts.

During the last year she has made a series of paintings in the landscape of Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. According to the painter, she has been especially struck by the Bejeque or "cliff cake", a plant that needs very few resources to thrive.

The Bejeque del Malpaís or sweet verol is an exclusive endemic of the island of Lanzarote that has been frequently used as an ornamental and medicinal plant. It is necessary to take into account that the majority of these species are protected and some are in danger of extinction, so their collection is prohibited. The exhibition can be visited every day from Monday to Sunday in the morning and afternoon until the 26th of this month.
