Raquel Goya Álvarez, a student at CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés in Tías, was a finalist in the XXVII National Heritage Competition of Children's and Youth Painting for Schools and her work is exhibited in the Royal Palace of El Pardo in Madrid along with 40 paintings selected from the 2,500 works presented to said contest, as reported by the City Council.

The CEIP student from Tías, who is in Sixth Grade, was also present at the awards ceremony, which was held on June 18 in Madrid and was presided over by Infanta Elena.

The young woman was accompanied by her father, José Mª Goya, and by the director of CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés and art teacher, Cristo David García, who enjoyed the concert by violinist Sara Valencia Villeta and the words of the Spanish architect, cartoonist, humorist and writer José María Pérez González, known as Peridis.

The school contest, in which young people from 5th and 6th grade of Primary Education and 1st and 2nd grade of Secondary Education participate, aims to value and publicize among young people the monuments, gardens and fountains attached to the National Heritage. In this edition, a total of 2,500 works were presented from a total of 337 schools throughout the country, among which the work 'Real Perspective' by the student from the school in Tías turned out to be one of the finalists, now being exhibited in the Royal Palace of El Pardo.

The City Council also highlights that the public school of Tías commemorates its 40th anniversary this year. "A celebration that comes with two important awards," the City Council points out, recalling the award granted by the Government of the Canary Islands to this center for an environmental project last week and now highlighting the achievement obtained by Raquel Goya Álvarez in the XXVII National Heritage Competition of Children's and Youth Painting for Schools.
