The defendant accused of setting fire in 2017 to an occupied house he shared with several residents in Arrecife, in a fire that cost the life of a woman and caused injuries to her son and another man, has blamed this Monday before the Las Palmas Court to a third person, according to the Efe agency.
Abdelaziz M., who faces a 25-year prison sentence for arson, murder and two counts of injury, has stated that it was a young man who also lived as a squatter in the house who set fire to the house around 06:00 on January 7 by order of Hassan E., who had previously sprayed gasoline inside and around it, and not him as the Public Prosecutor's Office maintains.
The defendant has said that the young man, Mohamed C., who is scheduled to testify as a witness tomorrow, lit the gasoline with a lighter and that Hassan E., who was never investigated for these events, had threatened to burn the house moments before and in front of more people in a bar because he had been angry with him.
