The doctor from Gran Canaria who was sent to provisional prison this past Wednesday allegedly took photographs of the intimate parts of his patients without their consent. This was reported by the National Police in a press release issued this Thursday. This healthcare professional from the Canarian Health Service, who worked in several health centers on the island, was sent to prison accused of sexually assaulting eleven women.
National Police agents proceeded to arrest this doctor this past April 7 for the second time as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against privacy and several crimes against sexual freedom, within the framework of an investigation initiated last February.
The events date back to February 1, 2026, when the first arrest of the investigated person occurred, after the agents became aware of several episodes in which, allegedly, the practitioner, taking advantage of his condition as a doctor and the vulnerable situation of the patients, would have performed sexual touching during healthcare.
As a result of this police action, investigations continued, detecting the possible commission of new acts, which led to the initiation of new proceedings for a crime against privacy, upon confirming that the investigated person, allegedly, took non-consensual photographs of the victims' breasts and buttocks.
He showed the images to other women to "gain their trust"
These images were subsequently used by the investigated person himself to show them to other women, with the purpose of gaining their trust and facilitating the continuation of acts of a sexual nature, all this in the exercise of his duties and taking advantage of his professional position.
As a result of the actions taken, and within the framework of the ongoing judicial proceedings, a warrant for entry and search of the investigated person's home was requested, as well as the secrecy of the proceedings, both measures being authorized by the competent judicial authority.
On the morning of April 7, 2026, the agents proceeded with the arrest of the investigated person in the vicinity of his home, seizing at that moment the mobile phone that he allegedly used for the capture and storage of the images.
Subsequently, the entry and search of his/her home was carried out, in the presence of the judicial authority and his/her legal representation, continuing with the investigation proceedings.
The investigation has allowed, up to now, to identify a total of nine victims and one witness, all of them women, among patients and workers from different health centers, whom the investigated approached using the same modus operandi based on the abuse of trust derived from his professional condition.
Finally, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who charged him with a crime against privacy and several crimes against sexual freedom, and decreed his immediate entry into provisional prison.
