The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas has judged this Monday in Lanzarote Juan Carlos Morales for the commission of more than a dozen sexual crimes against up to four minor victims on the island.
After an agreement between the Public Prosecutor and the defendant's defense, Morales has admitted the facts and has accepted 17 years and nine months in prison, almost half of the 30 years that the Public Prosecutor initially requested for crimes related to prostitution and corruption of minors, sexual assault of minors, exhibitionism and sexual abuse.
Morales sent "numerous photographs" in which he appeared "naked and with his penis normal and erect, as well as videos in which he appeared completely naked to a minor of twelve years, masturbating until ejaculating" through WhastApp and Instagram. Likewise, he admitted to having sexually assaulted a minor of 12 years up to 30 times, whom he raped between 2020 and 2022 in Lanzarote. First, in a park in Maneje and then, in his home in Arrecife.
In addition, he sent, using these same social networks, other nude photographs to three other minors on the island, between eleven and 15 years old. According to the Public Prosecutor in his indictment, the man performed "touching, and kisses of all kinds, fellatio and full sexual relations with vaginal and anal penetration, with and without a condom" with the minor of 12 years, "always taking advantage of the fact that they were alone" and that, "on many occasions", he offered the minor "money or drugs in exchange for sex" and "forcing her to have sexual relations with anal penetration against her will"
The confessed author has assured that "in some cases it is exaggerated", questioning the testimony of the victims and that he only assumed "what was true". At that moment, the Court has pointed out that the admission of the facts must be total and not with interpretations, after the Public Prosecutor has offered him a significant reduction of the prison sentence, and if not, the trial should be held, as planned.
In this way, Juan Carlos Morales admitted the facts again and will have to compensate the four victims with economic sums from 10,000 to 93,000 euros for the psychological and moral consequences that the aggressions and sexual abuses have caused them. In addition, he will not be able to work or carry out unpaid activities with minors in the next 20 years and will have to face 54 months of fine, with a daily fee of six euros.
