The Investigating Court number 2 of Arrecife has ordered the provisional imprisonment for the detainee for assaulting a 25-year-old woman in the capital, who is charged with a crime of sexual assault, as confirmed by sources close to the investigation.
The woman reported being attacked "sexually and physically" while walking down the street with her two children, four and five years old, on Thursday night. According to her account, when she was in the vicinity of the Sports City, a man came from behind and "grabbed her breasts with one hand" while with the other "grabbed her neck immobilizing her. After that, the five-year-old boy confronted the aggressor, who pushed the little one and "hit him several times", according to the complaint.
Then, a vehicle that was passing through the area at that time realized what was happening and slowed down, whereupon the aggressor fled. To prevent his escape, the young woman tried to grab his sweatshirt, whereupon she received "a punch in the chest" from the man, who finally managed to escape.
After the events, the young woman was attended by SUC health personnel in the area and transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital. As confirmed by 112, the woman presented a picture of anxiety and it was also decided to transfer her "by protocol", as she was pregnant. As for the minor, it was not recorded that he had been attended by the health workers.
The alleged aggressor was arrested by the National Police on Saturday at the door of the Courts of Arrecife, from where he was leaving after the Civil Guard had also arrested him for a crime of robbery. After that, on Sunday he was brought to judicial disposition, decreeing his entry into provisional prison.
