The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try on April 4 the owner of a supermarket in Arrecife accused of drug trafficking, for whom the Prosecutor's Office is asking for a sentence of eight years and six months in prison and a fine of 33,034 euros.
The Public Prosecutor's Office maintains in its indictment that Francisco R.F., owner of the María supermarket, located on Ingerniero Paz Peraza street in Arrecife, was engaged in "the sale and distribution of narcotic substances to third parties in the establishment" with "total disregard for individual and collective health".
According to the indictment, on April 28, 2016, agents of the National Police carried out an inspection of the premises and found "a total of 5.2 grams of cocaine, with an average purity of 10.34% expressed in cocaine base, and 327 grams of cannabis resin (hashish), which was distributed in several pieces", substances that in the illicit market reach "the value of 79.78 euros with respect to cocaine" and "of 1,984.89 euros with respect to hashish". They also found "several precision scales and several mobile phones":
The Prosecutor's Office considers that these facts constitute a crime against public health in the form of drug trafficking of substances that cause serious damage to health and, therefore, asks for eight and a half years in prison for the accused, in addition to a fine of 33,094 euros.
Part of the drug was hidden in boxes of sweets
After his arrest, the National Police reported that they had also found three boxes of anabolic steroids, 950 euros in cash, two knives with 25 and 18 centimeters of blade with traces of hashish and that part of the drug had been found hidden in boxes of sweets.
In addition, the police force indicated that the detainee, who was then 39 years old, had seven police records.
