The Las Palmas Court has closed the case of Teresa Pérez, a real estate agent who deceived 20 investors in Lanzarote with the sale of apartments and homes, most of them of foreign origin. The accused, after acknowledging the facts before the Las Palmas Prosecutor's Office, has accepted a total sentence of five years and eight months in prison for the continued crimes of fraud, misappropriation and forgery of a public document, according to La Provincia.
The oral hearing, lasting three days, was scheduled for this week in the Sixth Section of the Las Palmas Court, but an agreement between the defense and the Prosecutor's Office has allowed the case to be seen for sentencing, without the need to hold the three sessions scheduled for the trial.
Teresa Pérez Reyes has acknowledged before the magistrates of the Sixth Section that she defrauded 594,305 euros from twenty people between 2006 and 2011. She did so through a real estate agency that was located on Avenida de Las Playas, in Puerto del Carmen, with which she operated in the real estate sector through the companies Lanzarote Holidays Properties, Levett Seventy Seven and Property Warehouse Lanzarote, of which she was a partner or administrator.
She must also pay three fines of eight months, five months and five months, with a fee to pay of ten euros per day. The accused also has to comply with the civil liability for the crimes, which implies returning all the money.
