Accused of selling cocaine in a phone booth and a bar in Arrecife go on trial

The Prosecutor's Office accuses U.B.B. and U.B., neighbors on Los Geranios street, of distributing and selling drugs in their businesses during the summer of 2024

The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try two defendants on May 18 in Arrecife for selling cocaine in a telecommunications shop and a bar they owned on Aires de Lima street in Arrecife.

The Prosecutor's Office accuses U.B.B., who ran the internet cafe, and U.B., who ran the bar, of allegedly distributing and selling cocaine in exchange for money at both businesses during at least July 2024. 

On July 23, 2024, an Investigating Court ordered the entry and search of both businesses and the residences of both individuals, located on Los Geranios street.During the search of U.B.B.'s residence, they found 295 grams of mixed cocaine, valued at 17,425 euros on the illicit market, a precision scale, a phone, and 1,550 euros in cashMeanwhile, in the home of U.B., a neighbor of the former, 3,682 euros worth of cocaine, a scale, a notebook with annotations, and 1,910 euros in cash were found.The Public Prosecutor's Office classifies the events as a crime against public health, specifically involving substances that cause serious harm to health. Therefore, it requests a total of four years in prison for U.B.B., disqualification from exercising the right to passive suffrage during the sentence, a fine of 20,000 euros, and subsidiary liability of three months in case of non-paymentFor U.B., three and a half months of prison are requested, special disqualification during the period of the sentence, a fine of 5,000 euros, and subsidiary personal liability of fifteen days in prison in case of non-payment.Thus, the Prosecutor's Office requests that for U.B. the prison sentence be replaced by expulsion from the national territory and a ban on re-entering the country for six years, once two-thirds of the sentence has been served.
