The councilor of Lanzarote En Pie in the municipality of Yaiza, Ramiro Muñóz, believes that there has been "negligence" on the part of the southern city council "for not having effectively controlled the capacity of people during the Playa Blanca fair in the last week of July, and after the Government of the Canary Islands decreed the change to level 2 of health alert for Lanzarote."

The municipal councilor emphasizes the "little care" that has been taken from the Festivals and Citizen Security area, led by councilor Javier Camacho, "for not taking into account the limitations that must be established in level 2 of health alert." In this sense, Muñoz also points out that "the health restrictions came into force on July 25, the date on which the municipal permit for the fair also ended and which was extended by the mayor, Oscar Noda, until August 2."

Given this context, the councilor of Lanzarote En Pie in Yaiza considers that "there was some negligence in the application of the capacity restrictions that a public institution cannot have, and even less in such a delicate moment for the island."

"During level 2 of health alert in a pandemic situation, the protocol establishes that the capacity for the fair attraction sector must be reduced to 25%, according to indications from the Government of the Canary Islands. However, we could see how these were not taken into account during the extended week," says Muñoz.

For the spokesperson of the municipal organization in Yaiza, "it is important that the political leaders of the city council act with the same responsibility that they demand of the citizens, with the same care that they ask of the citizens and with the necessary attention that security deserves in events of this type, since they are responsible for ensuring public health." Thus, Ramiro Muñóz has announced that in the next municipal Plenary he will demand explanations from the mayor, Óscar Noda, and the responsible councilor, Javier Camacho.
