First Acredita Meeting in the Canary Islands by the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce

This Tuesday, the I Acredita Encounter in the Canary Islands: “Acredita tu talento” was held, an initiative organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and framed within the Acredita Program, promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

The event brought together experts, companies and professionals with the aim of promoting the accreditation of skills on the island, a key tool to improve employability, generate new job opportunities and strengthen the competitiveness of the business fabric.

Commitment to professional accreditation

The opening of the meeting was in charge of Alfredo Espino, General Director of the Canarian Institute of Professional Qualifications, Nori Machín, Councilor of the Economic Promotion Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and José Valle, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

During her speech, Nori Machín highlighted the importance of the program for citizens: "In Lanzarote and La Graciosa we have many people with years of experience in different sectors, but without an official qualification that accredits their skills and this, evidently, limits their job opportunities and their professional growth. With the Professional Skills Accreditation Project we take a step forward to recognize that talent and provide new opportunities for the future".

She also stressed the positive impact that this recognition has on the island's business fabric: "Having accredited and better prepared professionals reinforces our competitiveness and allows us to face the challenges of a constantly evolving labor market".

For his part, Alfredo Espino explained that the accreditation of skills is "a facilitating lever for processes of updating training, reskilling and upskilling, in a labor market so changing with the irruption of new technologies". In addition, he emphasized that this process should not be seen only as a tool for labor insertion for unemployed people, but as a way to capitalize on previous experience and achieve higher levels of training.

The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, highlighted in his speech the key role of this type of initiatives for the professional growth of the island's population and reiterated the Chamber's commitment to continue promoting programs that strengthen the development of skills and employability.

In Valle's words: "This event is only the beginning of a firm commitment to the recognition of the talent and experience of our professionals. From our institutions we will continue working so that more people can benefit from this process".

A high-level program

The meeting began with the presentation of the renowned neuroscientist Ana Ibáñez, director of Mindstudio, entitled “Connecting minds: Accreditation of Professional Skills through Neuroscience”. In her speech, Ibáñez explored how neuroscience can facilitate the process of accreditation of skills, contributing to greater employability and professional development of workers.

Throughout the day, the round table “Inspiring moments” was held, in which representatives of companies, users and other actors involved in the accreditation process participated. During this space for dialogue, experiences, success stories and reflections on the importance of skills validation in the current labor context were shared.

As a closing of the event, the Canarian actor and comedian Aarón Gómez put the relaxed note with his particular vision, remembering that learning and professional growth can also be accompanied by a smile.
