The 24th Lanzarote International Film Festival announces the opening of the registration period for two free training courses in the film industry. Those interested can register for the Film Script Course and the Sound in Audiovisual Productions Course, aimed at professionals and film enthusiasts.

Film Script Course

This workshop focuses on writing audiovisual scripts and is designed to be highly participatory, ideal for both beginners and those with some prior knowledge. Participants should not submit written projects in advance, but will use the workshop to develop new ideas.

The course, taught by Pablo Tobías, a screenwriter graduated from ECAM and with extensive experience in series and feature films, will address:

Theoretical foundations of audiovisual fiction writing: Theory of structure and dialogue.

  • Analysis of scenes and audiovisual pieces.
  • Continuous practical exercises.
  • Application of the notions learned in the writing of short films.
  • Beginning of the short film writing process.
  • Analysis and correction in class of the works carried out, until reaching a final version of approximately 10 minutes/pages.
  • Final analysis of the first version.

The course is in collaboration with the IsLABentura Canarias script laboratory and DAMA (Copyright of Audiovisual Media), and will take place from July 1 to 4 at the Argana Baja Cultural Center – Arrecife, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sound in Audiovisual Productions Course

This workshop is aimed at technicians and non-technicians interested in the audio recording process in various audiovisual productions, such as films, documentaries, short films, interviews, and even television. The contents include:

  • Microphones and recording systems.
  • Wireless systems and synchronization.
  • Theory of sound and sound spaces.
  • Teamwork.
  • Materials and configurations according to the type of project.

The course will focus on practice, allowing participants to play roles in the sound department, from a large production to a modest shoot.

The course will be taught by Francisco García Mateos, an advanced sound technician graduated from the prestigious Microfusa school and specialized in direct sound for cinema. The Sound Course will take place from July 8 to 12 at the Arrecife Youth Center, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
