The municipality of Tías once again achieved the fifth best hotel occupancy in the country in February with 78.3% of its places occupied, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics. The municipality that includes Puerto del Carmen had already achieved that mark in January, when 74.5% of its places were occupied.
With 75.5% occupancy, the municipality of Teguise was the seventh in the country, and improved two positions compared to January, when with 69.3% of its places occupied, it was the ninth municipality in Spain in tourist occupancy.
Next, in eighth place was Yaiza, which with 73.2% occupancy also improves two positions compared to January, when 69.4% of its places were occupied.
The hotel occupancy of Tías was only surpassed in Spain by Arona (83.2%), Puerto de la Cruz (80.2%), Adeje (80.1%) and San Bartolomé de Tirajana (79.9%). Between Tías and Teguise, the sixth place was taken by Mogán with 78.1% occupancy.
Canary Islands as a whole presented the highest degree of occupancy per place during February (74.7%) among the autonomous communities and far from the next one, Catalonia, with 53.1% occupancy.
The archipelago was also the preferred destination for non-residents in Spain with almost half of the overnight stays, 48.2% of the total. The following destinations are Catalonia and Andalusia, with 16.4% and 12.1% of the total, respectively.
