The Association Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España has reported in a press release, collected by the Efe Agency, that five Canarian municipalities that are part of this network have received 4.8 million visitors throughout the year 2024. Thus, it has argued that these locations are consolidated as "destinations of great national and international tourist attraction."

The Lanzarote municipality of Teguise has stood out with "2.4 million visitors in total," with 1.4 million international and 942,968 national.

This association states that of the total number of visitors to the five Canarian municipalities, 2.5 million have been international tourists and represents "the relevance of the Canary Islands as one of the most popular destinations in Europe."

The main issuing markets have been Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy, which in the opinion of the association, "reaffirms the interest of foreign travelers in the cultural, heritage and landscape offer of these enclaves."

In detail, Betancuria (Fuerteventura) has received 440,033 visitors in total, of which 239,523 were international and 200,510 national; while Tejeda (Gran Canaria) received 760,096 visitors in total, with 346,572 international and 413,524 national.

For its part, Agulo (La Gomera) has welcomed 300,500 visitors in total, of which 123,375 were international and 177,125 national; and Garachico (Tenerife) received 922,871 visitors in total, of which 340,332 were international and 582,539 national.

For the association, these municipalities have demonstrated "their ability to attract both national and international visitors", combining "the richness of their heritage with sustainable tourism initiatives and unique experiences for travelers."

National tourism has also had a "prominent presence", with a total of 2.3 million visitors, which reflects "the growing interest of residents themselves and travelers from the rest of Spain in discovering the authenticity of these towns."

The Association Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España has highlighted that the data show "the importance of rural and cultural tourism in the Canary Islands as an economic engine" and also as a "tool for the preservation of heritage and the revitalization of local economies."

The Association Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España, which has 122 locations, aims to make known "the wonderful towns that dot the Spanish geography" to "promote small municipalities, preferably rural, grouped under the same quality brand", together with promotion actions and cultural events that the association undertakes both inside and outside of Spain.
