Andalusia and the Canary Islands will be the most requested destinations this summer by Spanish tourists, as reflected in the data from the study "Deciphering the travel sector 2022", by the digital marketing agency Rebold in its study, collected by the portal Hosteltur.

Specifically, 19.55% will enjoy their vacations in the autonomous community of Andalusia in the months of July and August, followed by the Canary Islands with 11.5% and the Valencian Community 10.89%. Meanwhile, La Rioja is at the bottom of the list, with only 0.78% travel intention.

"Beach vacations are preferred by travelers who stay in the country," explains the digital marketing agency. "Both our own data and the analysis of relevant sources in the sector that Rebold has used for the study predict a return to the figures of 2019, both in the number of travelers and in income throughout the next year," he adds.

A traveler who buys at the last minute and with cancellation policies

The national tourist is a traveler who opts for last-minute bookings, compared to purchases in advance, a habit inherited from the pandemic, when restrictions changed constantly, as well as the fear of catching coronavirus.

Specifically, 81% of tourists book a maximum of three months in advance, of which 62% do so between one and three months and 19% opt for last-minute bookings, just one week before. For its part, there is a 15% more far-sighted, who seeks to plan their trip between four and six months in advance, while only 4% buy their tickets more than six months in advance.

Finally, it should be noted that Spaniards will take the price as an essential factor when planning their vacations, followed by simple return policies as a result of the coronavirus, with 38%, and the ratings of other users and simple registration and departure processes occupy the third and fourth place with 36%.
