Residents in Spain are finalizing their Christmas holidays, and the leading domestic destinations in searches are Madrid and the Canary Islands, according to Tortoise Walk, a digital marketing agency that has analyzed the most searched destinations on Google by Spaniards for Christmas travel in 2025.
In statements to Ekonomus, the agency's director explained that "during November, searches from Spain to travel to Lanzarote in December tripled those for Gran Canaria".
The study on Spanish travel trends for this Christmas shows that around 20% of searches are concentrated on beach destinations, a trend that reflects the growing interest in escaping the cold of the peninsula.
Among these options,Lanzarote stands out as one of the preferred destinations for Spaniards, thanks to its mild climate, its unique volcanic landscapes, and its wide range of tourist attractions for all types of travelers.
There is also a growing interest in destinations like Egypt or spending New Year's Eve on a Caribbean island, which together account for almost 2,000 searches in November alone. This figure places them at the same level of interest as spending Christmas in Madrid or New York.
However, the trend is that international travel far exceeds domestic travel. In November alone, more than 18,000 Google searches were recorded for destinations outside the country, with Alsace and Lapland in the top spots. Domestic destinations accounted for 10,000 searches.
