The number of travelers from the peninsula decreased again in October compared to last year and has accumulated six consecutive months of declines. Between January and October, nearly 26,000 fewer peninsulars have arrived than last year.

Last October, 26,261 peninsular tourists arrived, while in the same month last year there were 27,001. The decrease is not very large for the month, but it adds to the decreases of the previous five months.

The president of the Lanzarote Tourist Confederation, Susana Pérez had already raised the alarm last August, during an interview with Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, about the pronounced drop in peninsular tourism that had occurred in July on the island, equivalent to 10,000 fewer people.

In August, the president of the FTL stated that the sharp drop in July could be due, at least in part, to the behavior of flight prices from the peninsula.

Peninsular tourism fell by 3.3% in January and then grew slightly in February, March and April compared to last year.

However, it has been falling for five consecutive months. Already in May, 4% fewer peninsular tourists arrived than during the same month last year, while in June there were 2.2% fewer and in August the fall was 4.4%.
