Lanzarote and Álava, as two wine regions with agricultural and cultural identity, will celebrate the first edition of the Vinopoesía Festival this November. This event aims to be a poetic, landscape, cultural and enogastronomic exchange to unite the Island of the Volcanoes with other territories through wine. The celebration will have two venues: Lanzarote, under the name "Vinopoesía", and Álava, called "Ardopoesía", where "Ardo" means "wine" in Basque.
The festival will feature various activities that will merge poetry and viticulture. In the Basque headquarters, three activities will be carried out during the days 3 and 4 of November, while in the headquarters of the Canary Island another three will be carried out, during the days 24 and 25 of the same month. These activities will include music, hiking and gastronomy, always accompanied by creative stories and wine. In addition, there will be the participation of three wineries from Lanzarote and another three from La Rioja Alavesa, offering attendees the opportunity to taste their magnificent references.
Víctor Díaz, president of the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote, stated that "this festival is a unique opportunity to enjoy poetry in incomparable natural settings, while tasting high quality wines. It is an experience that combines culture, landscape and enogastronomy in an exceptional way."
For his part, Ignacio Romero, co-director of the Vinopoesía festival, highlighted the importance of celebrating an event that "generates a symbiosis between two regions of inspiring landscapes and great cultural diversity. Assembling the most personal and intimate literary creation and with the culture of wine in unique agricultural settings". "It is an opportunity to get to know these two regions with their musical, gastronomic, landscape, literary variety and, in addition, different wineries and wines," he added.
The festival will feature the participation of prominent poets such as Arantza Guinea, Mercedes R. Minguela, Manuel Concepción, Domingo Corujo Tejera, Tere Perera, Rosi Puelles, José Laconcepción, Ignacio Romero, among others. In addition, Pedro Benasco, with extensive experience in wine tastings, will be present at the event.
The cultural and enogastronomic proposal is co-directed by Elisa Rueda at the Alavese headquarters and Ignacio Romero at the Lanzarote headquarters, and supported by the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote, together with the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Turismo Lanzarote. Both directors invite all lovers of poetry and wine to join this unique celebration that promises to be unforgettable.
