The Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jessica de León, has insisted this Wednesday in the plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands that there will be no moratorium to suspend the granting of licenses for vacation homes in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Response that the councilor has given to the deputy of the Socialist group Patricia Hernández, who recalled that the moratorium has been requested by the presidents of the councils of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

The councilor has explained that there will be no moratorium because there will not be enough time, in addition to because with the new regulations there will be more guarantees for the town halls to initiate the ordinance that allows them to suspend licenses, and because the green islands (La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro) have not requested it.

Jessica de León has indicated that there is little time left for the proposal to reach Parliament, where it will establish, among other things, the classification of vacation homes and will distinguish what is legal from what is illegal and unlegalizable.

The deputy of the Socialist group has reminded the councilor that one thing is the time remaining for the proposal to reach Parliament and another is the time that the legislative chamber will have to carry out an effective and efficient law.
