Various newspapers in the United Kingdom and Ireland have echoed the complaints of several international visitors to Lanzarote regarding the long queues for passport control and those caused by the lack of taxis, which they describe as "chaos."
They also highlight that the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has requested a high-level meeting with Aena authorities to address, among other things, these issues.
Some of the newspapers that reported on this issue are Bristol Post, Leicester Mercury, Edinburgh Live, Daily Record, and The Irish Mirror.
The aforementioned media outlets warn that Lanzarote airport has been the subject of numerous complaints over the years, particularly regarding the long waiting times for baggage claim and passport control.
They report that tourists have informed them that "these processes take approximately one hour, followed by another long wait to get a taxi."
The aforementioned British and Irish media highlight that residents of Lanzarote agree that there is a "significant mismatch" between supply and demand and that action needs to be taken.
They also report on the Cabildo's intention to create a digitalized service for taxis as a possible solution.
