The Latvian airline Air Baltic will open a base in Gran Canaria this winter, from which it will operate, with two Airbus A220-300 aircraft, ten new routes with Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, with 17 weekly flights, which will facilitate the connection of Lanzarote with the northernmost countries of the European continent.
The seasonal offer also complements airBaltic's current services to the Canary Islands, as the airline will continue to operate direct flights to Tenerife from its four main bases during the next winter season.
The route from Riga, the capital of Latvia, to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will increase from two weekly flights to three, bringing the number of new weekly flights to Gran Canaria to 17 for next winter, as it will begin operating at the end of October and will be marketed from June 21.
The Latvian airline connects the Baltic region with more than 70 destinations in Europe, the Middle East and former Soviet republics. It has some 2,300 employees and is Latvia's best-known international brand, as well as being responsible for more than 2.5% of the Baltic country's GDP.
Latvia has two million inhabitants and Riga airport operates as an international platform for customers from the Nordic countries, as well as Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.
