The Governing Board of Yaiza granted this Wednesday a construction license for 76 new subsidized homes of private development in Montaña Roja. This is the third phase of the Los Ajaches residential complex in Playa Blanca, which has a favorable report from the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI).
Likewise, in the meeting held last February with the Canary Islands' head of Housing, Pablo Rodríguez, the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, already proposed to the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands the purchase of these 76 homes in view of the investments of the new Housing Plan of the Autonomous Community, without prejudice to the City Council ceding a new plot to expand the public housing stock in Playa Blanca.
On the other hand, Yaiza hopes that the Canary Islands will tender before summer the works of the 136 homes, also in Playa Blanca, on the 42,000 square meter plot ceded by the municipality to the regional Executive, as Rodríguez advanced to Noda in that same meeting.
“In Yaiza, we not only adopt effective decisions to alleviate the lack of housing in our municipality, but we also share these experiences to help solve one of the biggest concerns of the residents of Lanzarote, along with the serious problem in water management,” highlights Mayor Óscar Noda.
Of the 76 homes in the third phase of the Los Ajaches residential complex, 38 homes are 77 square meters of useful surface area, with three bedrooms, and 38 are 60 square meters, with two bedrooms, all with parking. Of the former, four two-bedroom houses of greater size are planned for people with reduced mobility.
Óscar Noda recalls that “in 2018 we granted the first licenses for the construction of subsidized homes of private development in Montaña Roja, the residential complex where the Government of the Canary Islands and the Island Council bought this year the 42 homes of the second phase at the request of the City Council. I have always said that it is not the definitive solution, but it is a very valid formula that helps, and that is why I trust that the Government presided over by Fernando Clavijo will decide on this new purchase that we propose.”
