The price of rental housing in the capital of Lanzarote drops to 8 euros per square meter in the month of March, 2.1% less than in February, but 3.7% more than the same month of 2021, when the price was 7.7 euros/m2, according to data from the Idealista portal.
The figures leave behind the peak recorded in February, with rent at 8.2 euros, and are beginning to approach the stable prices of last year, when the average cost was about 7.8 euros per square meter.
However, these numbers are still far from pre-pandemic prices, which revolved around 8.4 euros on average and, especially, the historical maximum recorded in October 2019 with the square meter at 8.9 euros.
Canary Islands is the fifth community with the highest prices
Unlike the case of Arrecife, prices have risen throughout the national territory. Specifically, in the case of the province of Las Palmas, rent in March rose 0.9% compared to the previous month, with a price of 11.2 euros per square meter.
This makes it the sixth province with the highest prices in all of Spain, behind only Barcelona (14.5 euros), Madrid (13.9), Guipúzcoa (13.8), Balearic Islands (12.5) and Vizcaya (11.9 euros), according to the report published by Idealista.
In addition, all the Autonomous Communities have increased the costs of rental housing in the first quarter of 2022. The average in the Canary Islands in March was 10.5 euros per square meter, 0.9% more than in February and 6.6% more than in the same month of the previous year.
The archipelago ranks fifth among the most expensive CCAA, behind Catalonia and Madrid (12.9 euros/m2/month), Balearic Islands (12.5) and Basque Country (12.3).
However, the Canary Islands is below the Spanish average, which puts the price at 10.8 euros.
Nationally, the price of housing rent has increased by 1.9% during the first three months of the year, although they are still 0.1% lower than a year ago.
