Renting in the Canary Islands, 14.5% more expensive than a year ago

Among the autonomous communities, prices have only risen more in the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community

The cost of rental housing increased in September by 14.5% in the Canary Islands compared to the same month of 2022, which is the third largest increase in the entire country.

The average price of rentals in Spain as a whole rose to 11.8 euros per square meter, 9.3% more than in September 2022, while in the Canary Islands it stood at 12.8 euros.

In September, the largest increases in rents compared to the previous year were recorded in the Balearic Islands (22.7% to 16.2 euros/m2); Valencian Community (15.9% to 10 euros), Canary Islands (14.5% to 12.8 euros), Catalonia (13.8% to 16 euros) and Andalusia (12.4% to 10.1 euros).

For its part, prices in the Community of Madrid advanced 9% year-on-year to 16.1 euros/m2.

If we analyze the last three months, the price increased in 11 of them, with the largest increases being those of Catalonia (5.8%), Madrid (4.7%), Valencian Community (3.4%), Basque Country (3.1%) and La Rioja (2.9%).

The Balearic Islands is the community with the most expensive rentals (16.2 euros/m2), followed by Madrid (16.1 euros), Catalonia (16 euros) and the Basque Country (13.1 euros).

In fact, six autonomous communities are already at maximum values: Madrid, Catalonia, Canary Islands, La Rioja, Basque Country and Castilla-La Mancha.
