Rental housing prices rose in Arrecife in February

Renting a home in the capital costs 5.2% more than in January, with the price per square meter at 8.2 euros

February has been the month in which rental prices in the Lanzarote capital have experienced a change in trend, returning to the path of increase and with a significant increase.

Renting a home in Arrecife costs more now than in January, specifically, 5.2% more, according to data from the Idealista portal. The price per square meter had remained stable during 2021, around 7.8 euros, but in February of this year this trend has been broken with an increase that leaves figures of 8.2 euros per square meter.

Although the price of rentals in the capital did experience a decrease of 3.8% during 2021 compared to the previous year, February is the first month in which the rental price begins to approach the numbers from years prior to the pandemic, such as in October 2019, where the average price was 8.9 euros per square meter.
 

Rental prices in the major Canary capitals

A similar case to that of Arrecife is that of Puerto del Rosario, in Fuerteventura, where prices remained at an average of 6.9 euros/m2 throughout 2021, but in February the trend changed with an increase of 8.7% to 7.4 euros.

On the other hand, Santa Cruz de Tenerife had a slight decrease from January to February, but in year-on-year terms there has been an increase of 6.3% compared to the same month last year, going from an average of 8.6 euros to 9.1 euros/m2 in February 2022. The second most populous capital of the Canary Islands has had an upward and progressive trend in recent years.

As for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the rental price has been the most stable over the last five years. Specifically, the cost of housing rent did not experience any change between January and February of this year, nor compared to the same month of 2021, remaining at 9.9 euros per square meter.

In addition, in the autonomous community as a whole, rental prices have reached their historical maximum in this second month of the year, with the square meter at 10.4 euros, 5.9% more than in the same month last year.
