In the Canary Islands, home sales grew by 5.6% during the third quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter, with 7,864 transactions closed and foreign buyers as the main protagonists, since one in three houses that changed owners in the islands went to their hands (33.7%).
The archipelago leads sales to foreigners in Spain. Next are the Balearic Islands (31.46%) and the Valencian Community (28.34%).
According to data collected by the Association of Property Registrars, by type of housing, 1,467 new properties were sold in the Canary Islands during the summer, 16.7% more, and 6,397 second-hand properties, 3.4% more.
Average sale prices in the archipelago were 2,306 euros per square meter in general (+7.4%), 1,922 euros/m2 for new housing (+8.7%) and 2,394 euros/m2 for used housing (+7.6%).
In Spain as a whole, the sale of homes grew by 5.5% in the third quarter compared to the same period of the previous year, with a record of foreign demand.
