A total of 1,518 people are already receiving the Youth Rental Bonus of the Canary Islands, an aid of up to 250 euros, reports the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands.

After the latest resolution of the department headed by Sebastián Franquis, 602 new beneficiaries have been incorporated, joining the 916 young people who were already receiving it.

In total, the Canarian Housing Institute (Icavi), through which this aid is managed, allocates more than five million euros to cover the 24 months of rent that this subsidy recognizes to all beneficiaries, from 18 to 35 years old.

The payment of this aid will be made quarterly after justification of the monthly rental payments for two years, to be applied with retroactive effect from January 1 of this year.

At the end of those 24 months of subsidies, the young beneficiaries will have received bonuses for a maximum value of 6,000 euros.

Icavi is working on the completion of new payment resolutions that expand the number of beneficiaries.

This aid, which has a global allocation of 21,200,000 euros committed by the central government for this and next year, was announced on August 2.

It is aimed at people between 18 and 35 years of age who are owners or are in a position to sign a housing or room rental contract in the Canary Islands, and who have a source of income equal to or less than three times the Public Indicator of Income of Multiple Effects (IPREM) of 2021, that is, 23,725.80 euros per year.
