A total of 878 young people from the islands have already received the check for up to 250 euros per month from the Youth Rental Bonus in the Canary Islands. The Housing Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, directed by Sebastián Franquis, has made public a new resolution with 525 new beneficiaries who join the 353 from the first resolution that was published in September. The Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), through whom this aid is managed, allocates more than five million euros to the payment of this bonus to cover the 24 months of rentals that this subsidy recognizes to these 525 young people.

This new resolution with 525 new beneficiaries is extracted after assessing another thousand and a half applications that were submitted between August 2 and October 31, when the call closed. The Department has launched this new line of aid to facilitate the emancipation of young people from 18 to 35 years old in the islands, paying them 250 euros per month for 24 months to help them pay the rents of the homes in which they reside.

These 525 new beneficiaries have assigned aid worth 3,092,000 euros to be paid in the 24 months of validity of the aid. The payment of this aid will be made quarterly after justification of the monthly rental payments for two years, to be applied retroactively from January 1 of this year. At the end of those 24 months of subsidies, the young beneficiaries will have received bonuses for a maximum value of 6,000 euros.

Future resolutions

The ICAVI continues to work on the completion of new payment resolutions that expand the number of beneficiaries and therefore will require more young people who requested the aid, but did not provide all the requested documentation, to do so in the coming days so that they have the opportunity to also be qualified as beneficiaries.

Those applicants who are pending the status of their aid can check if they are in any of the contemplated situations (beneficiary, required or rejected) in the digital headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands

This aid, which has a global allocation of 21,200,000 euros committed by the State for this and next year, was convened on August 2 and is aimed at people between 18 and 35 years old who are owners or are in a position to sign a housing or room rental contract in the Canary Islands, and who have a source of income equal to or less than three times the Public Indicator of Income of Multiple Effects (IPREM) of 2021, that is, 23,725.80 euros per year.
