57% of Lanzarote residents consider the housing situation to be the main problem in Lanzarote, marked by the increase in rental prices and the scarcity of affordable housing, according to the latest Island Issues survey by the Cabildo.
The investigation, prepared by the Lanzarote Data Center between October 14 and November 8, was conducted through 700 telephone interviews with residents of Lanzarote and La Graciosa over the age of 18.
Housing is by far the biggest concern for the people of Lanzarote. More than twice as many choose it over water scarcity, which was selected by 24% of respondents, and it almost triples the concern about the health situation.

Healthcare was chosen by 20% of respondents, who cite difficulties in access, quality of services and waiting lists as the main causes.
Immigration is perceived as the main problem by 19% of the island's citizens, while the economic situation was chosen by 17% of the population.
Next is tourism and the quality of employment, each selected by 12% of respondents. Politics is the biggest problem on the island for 10%, very close to the situation of public transport, which was chosen by 9% of respondents, the same as the prices of the shopping basket.
