Canary Islands, the region where house sales grow the least

In 2024, 24,860 homes were purchased in the Canary Islands, 24,068 of them free, 792 protected, 6,803 new and 18,057 used, which represented a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, the lowest in Spain - very far from the national advance of 10% - and which followed the only decrease, of 3.8%, registered in the Balearic Islands.

According to provisional data published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics, of the 24,860 homes purchased last year in the islands, 13,439 were acquired in the province of Las Palmas and 11,421 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The number of properties transferred registered in the archipelago in 2024 amounted to 74,062, which represented an annual increase of 5.4%, higher than the national average of 5%.

The provisional data from the property rights transfer statistics for December 2024 reflect that in the last month of 2024, 1,682 homes were sold in the Canary Islands, 15% more than in the same period of 2023.

The number of properties transferred registered in the archipelago in December 2024 amounted to 5,645, which represented a year-on-year increase of 19.4%.
