The Arrecife City Council Plenary has approved this Friday, as a matter of urgency, the modification of the fiscal ordinance that regulates the "Fee for Urban Planning Licenses, Verification of Communicated Activities and Other Urban Planning Services." The measure exempts projects subject to inter-administrative cooperation from paying this fee, such as the housing construction plan promoted by the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI).
The Deputy Mayor and Head of Finance, Echedey Eugenio, has highlighted the importance of this decision to address the growing demand for housing in the city. "The housing situation in Arrecife is critical, and the City Council is committed to removing any administrative obstacles that hinder the construction of housing. This modification will speed up the procedures and ensure that projects financed with public funds are executed within the established deadlines," he said.
The urgency of the proposal responds to the need to guarantee compliance with the deadlines associated with ICAVI financing. Delaying its approval would have jeopardized the execution of the project and, consequently, the delivery of new homes to the citizens who need them most.
After its initial approval, the modification will be subject to public display for 30 days in the Official Gazette of the Province, during which time allegations may be presented. If no objections are received, the new regulations will enter into force the day after their final publication.
