Two wines from Lanzarote, from Bodegas el Grifo, have won awards at the XVI edition of the best wines and spirits of Spain 2024, to which nearly 1,500 different wines were presented.
The winners from Lanzarote are the Malvasía Lías, awarded in the white wines aged in barrels category, and the Grifo Vendimia Invierno in the most innovative wine category.
The contest, organized by the 189 members of the Spanish Association of Wine and Spirits Journalists and Writers (AEPEV), has awarded the Prize for Best Wine of the Year 2024 to Fondillón 1996, from the company MG Wines, of the DOP Alicante.

The AEPEV Awards are not a Contest or a tasting in the usual sense, as the products to be evaluated are chosen by the Association's members themselves based on the news generated during the year and also considering the products they have tasted throughout 2024.
The AEPEV is an organization formed by journalists, communicators, editors, and wine writers from Spain who work for more than 90 specialized media outlets.
