The Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote celebrates the achievements of the wineries La Geria, El Grifo and Vega de Yuco, which have obtained a total of eight awards, gold, silver and bronze, in three prestigious international wine tasting competitions

The Manto tinto sample, from Bodega La Geria, has won a gold medal at the Frankfurt International Wine Trophy while the El Grifo and Vega de Yuco wineries have won five awards at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) in England.

El Grifo has won two silvers and one bronze with the references Blanco Lías Malvasía, Blanco Seco Colección and Tinto Ariana 2021, while Vega de Yuco has achieved two bronze medals with its wines Esencia Yaiza Malvasía Volcánica and Vega de Yuco.

In addition, El Grifo has also been recognized in the Gaia Wine Challenge awards, for its Ancestral Blanco Ecológico (Gold) and Finca Ramón Blanco Ecológico (Silver) references.

Three major international competitions

The Frankfurt International Wine Trophy is a prestigious international competition in which more than 2,750 wines from 27 countries participate.

For its part, the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), after 20 years of existence, has established itself as one of the most important wine competitions in the international wine scene. In this 2023 edition, nearly 240 experts, Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers, have assessed nearly 18,200 wines from 57 different countries.

Unlike the previous ones, in the Gaia Wine Challenge competition, apart from recognizing the quality and excellence of the product, the environmental values carried out for the production and obtaining of the wine are also taken into account. The competition includes sending to more than 30,000 professionals in North America and Europe, including importers, distributors and resellers, opening the doors of the international market to all participating wineries.

For all these reasons, the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote highlights the work of the wineries and producers, since "these triumphs are a reflection of the commitment and dedication of all of them in the elaboration of exceptional wines, which have been recognized for their quality and excellence in renowned competitions at a global level".
