The Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Business Confederation of the Island (CEL), presented this Wednesday the 2025 Employability Plan, a project subsidized through the Canary Islands Government Development Fund (Fdcan), which aims to improve employability. In fact, since its launch in 2016, 303 companies have joined and the hiring of 343 people has been promoted.

The vice president and head of the Planning and Project Coordination Unit, María Jesús Tovar, stressed that "this year alone, more than 5.1 million euros from the Fdcan have been allocated to promote employment and innovation on the island and La Graciosa, an investment that allows the operation of actions such as the employability plan" and that "it has allowed to maintain nearly 180 direct jobs in sectors such as cleaning services," she noted.

For her part, the Minister of Employment, Ascensión Toledo, highlighted that "Lanzarote leads the employability figures in the Canary Islands with respect to the previous year," with initiatives such as the Municipal Employment Plans, the second chance programs, and Active Youth, among others. "Our challenge is to guarantee stable and quality jobs," she said.

For her part, the president of the Lanzarote Business Confederation, Beatriz Salazar, presented this initiative as an "example of the importance of public-private collaboration to launch projects that contribute to labor insertion and respond to the needs of the labor market." She also detailed that the Employability Plan has a primary focus on vulnerable groups, guaranteeing equity and attention to diversity.

### Employability Program 2025

During the presentation, it was recalled that the deadline for companies to benefit from this tool has been open since October 1st, so that those companies that wish to register can do so through the CEL.

The Employability Plan channels partial funding for labor costs of companies for the temporary or permanent hiring of unemployed individuals registered with the Canarian Employment Service.

Through this program, an amount of up to 650 euros per month is contributed per person hired full-time, for a duration of nine months, with the possibility of extension. In addition, contracts are eligible for subsidies from this month of October.

Compared to 2016, the year the program was launched, the total investment for the 2024/2025 period has reached 245,000 euros, with the participation of 51 companies and the formalization of 51 hires. These figures contrast with the 40,000 euros, 15 companies, and 21 hires recorded in the first year, reflecting the firm commitment of both institutions to the creation and promotion of employment.

The monthly amount of funding is divided into three groups: the first is for those over 45, self-employed workers with one or two employees, women at risk of vulnerability, the long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, or first-time employment with vocational training/university degrees, with an amount of 650 euros per month.

The second segment is made up of those under 45, women with their first job who only have compulsory secondary education (ESO), or migrants, with a monthly income of 550 euros.

Finally, the group consisting of men between 16 and 45 years old in their first job without training, earning 400 euros per month.
