The Government of the Canary Islands Allocates 5 Million Euros to Improve Employability in Lanzarote

The plan's labor areas include renewable energy, lifeguarding, social and healthcare services, agricultural work, tourism, and audiovisuals.

The Ministry of Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE), has announced the approval of subsidies totaling 51,061,725 euros for local corporations and non-profit organizations for the implementation of 150 alternating training with employment projects (PFAEs).

The specific amount for the island of Lanzarote amounts to 5,106,172.50 euros for the realization of 15 projects to promote professional qualification and the employment of unemployed people with little training.

Minister Jéssica de León has highlighted these projects that combine specialized professional training with work experience, providing unemployed people with the opportunity to obtain an official qualification along with professional practice. "This synergy significantly contributes to improving the employability of the unemployed population of the Canary Islands," she adds.

 

Aid in the rest of the islands

Regarding the distribution of the budget in the rest of the islands, 22,126,747.50 euros have been allocated to Gran Canaria, for a total of 65 projects. For Tenerife, 18,041,809.50 euros were allocated for the execution of 53 projects, while 3,404,115.00 euros were allocated to Fuerteventura for 10 projects, and the island of La Palma received 2,382,880.50 euros for the development of 7 projects.

These programs, framed as an active policy of the SCE, are characterized by combining mixed actions of training and hiring in order to improve professional qualification in the workplace.

Labor areas

The most outstanding specialties include areas such as renewable energy, lifeguarding, social and healthcare services, agricultural, forestry and gardening work, tourism, audiovisuals, bar and cafeteria services, masonry, painting, rehabilitation and maintenance of buildings, as well as cleaning and maintenance and cultural revitalization.

The call for these subsidies, financed with funds from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy for an amount of 35 million euros, has been increased with an additional contribution of 14 million euros from the Comprehensive Employment Plan of the Canary Islands (PIEC). The total amount allocated has provided budgetary coverage to all applications that met the requirements.

The resolution of the call allocated a total of 41,530,203 euros to the city councils and their public entities, 4,765,761.00 euros to the foundations, 2,723,292.00 euros to the island councils, and 2,042,469.00 euros to the associations.
