The Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL) and the Lanzarote Council held a meeting in which both institutions shared issues related to the situation of employability in Lanzarote and La Graciosa

The meeting was attended by the president of the CEL, Francisco Martínez, the general secretary of the CEL, Beatriz Salazar, and the Councilor for Employment of the Lanzarote Council, Ascensión Toledo.

Francisco Martínez thanked the councilor for her willingness and explained that some of the issues addressed were the lack of qualified professionals in all areas of the island, the distortion caused by the underground economy in the business fabric, and the execution of the Confederation's projects financed by the Employment Area of the Council.

"The lack of qualified professionals is hindering the development of the island's economic activity. As a possible solution, we need to implement training activities for workers and the unemployed," added the president.

He also revealed that a meeting will be held soon with the Council to address with more emphasis the concern about the issue of the underground economy.

For her part, the Councilor for Employment expressed her satisfaction with the dedication of the CEL and the degree of execution of the projects and pledged to renew them in the coming year.

Finally, both parties expressed their full willingness to continue collaborating in all types of actions for the benefit of employability and entrepreneurship in Lanzarote.

The CEL projects financed by the Employment Area of the Lanzarote Council consist of the Business Advisory Service (SAE), which so far this year has processed 47 registrations of self-employed workers and has provided advice on 657 occasions, and the project 'Employability Lanzarote 22/23', financed by FDCAN Funds, aimed at subsidizing the hiring of unemployed people, and which this year has supported a total of 51 companies that have hired unemployed people registered with the Canarian Employment Service.
