Yaiza is the municipality in the Canary Islands with the lowest rate of registered job seekers, amounting to 8.5%, and in second place Teguise, with 9.4%, according to data from the Statistics of Registered Active Population in 2022 published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
In third place is the municipality of Pájara in Fuerteventura, where the rate is 9.7%. Next, two other municipalities from Lanzarote occupy the fourth and fifth positions, first Tías, with 10.2% and right after San Bartolomé, with a rate of 10.3%.
On the contrary, municipalities of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma register the five highest rates of registered job seekers. Icod de los Vinos (22.7%) is the municipality with the highest rate, followed by Moya (22.4%), La Aldea de San Nicolás (22.3%), La Victoria de Acentejo (22.1%) and Garafía (21.9%).
Lanzarote is also the island with the best data in the archipelago
At the island level, with 12%, Lanzarote also has the best data in the archipelago, followed by Fuerteventura with 12.2%.
On the opposite side are Gran Canaria, with a rate of 19.4%, and Tenerife, where registered job seekers reach 18.2%.
The survey collects and analyzes data on employment, unemployment and other indicators related to the active population registered in the Canary Islands at a suburban level, such as the municipal job seeker rate and the youth job seeker rate, the basic indicators of the number of employed and unemployed and the temporary employment rate, among others.
