Canary Islands leads dismissal claims again this year

In the archipelago, there are about 120 lawsuits for dismissal per 100,000 inhabitants, almost 30 more than in Catalonia, which occupies the second place

As it happened in 2022, Canary Islands is once again the autonomous community of Spain with the most lawsuits for dismissal this year, according to data from the Social courts.

In the archipelago a total of 2,623 lawsuits were filed in the second quarter of 2023, 16.2% more than in the same period of 2022, when there were 2,258.

Therefore, the rate of lawsuits for dismissal per 100,000 inhabitants in the islands stands at 118.5, the highest in the country, above Catalonia (90.6) and Valencia (86.6).

At the national level, 34,014 lawsuits for dismissal were filed, 18.3% more than in the same quarter of 2022.

Catalonia, with 7,160 (21.1% of the national total), was the Autonomous Community in which the most lawsuits of this type were filed. It was followed by Andalusia, with 5,336; Madrid, with 5,230; and the Valencian Community, with 4,517.
