The Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jessica de León, will participate in the 2025 edition of the Foro Global Sur. The highest Canarian authority in tourism will explain the perspectives for the tourism of the future and the actions of her department to design a sustainable tourism model for the archipelago and, therefore, for our island. The forum, which is held on Friday, June 20 at Marina Innova Hub in Arrecife, combines the institutional perspective with the vision of experts and business representatives, to better understand the present and the future of our archipelago.
This participation is part of the celebration of the 6th edition of the Global South Forum on the island. In each edition, the trends that affect Lanzarote and the Canary Islands are analyzed in depth, in order to detect opportunities and contribute to the establishment of strategies for the future. On this occasion, the economic reflection forum will address the future, analyzing challenges as pressing as the impact of Artificial Intelligence or climate change and how they affect the island, in its dual perspective as a tourist destination and as a bridge between Africa, America and Europe.
Lanzarote's most prestigious economic forum proposes a panel that also includes the renowned futurist Gerd Leonhard. Leonhard is one of the most influential voices in Europe according to Wired magazine. He has given more than 2,000 master lectures around the world to global organizations such as Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Google, Visa and the European Commission, inspiring millions of people to imagine and build a better tomorrow through his lectures, books and audiovisual creations. His presentation is entitled "Lanzarote in the age of AI and how the island can thrive in the future".
The event will have a simultaneous translation service from English to Spanish available for mobile devices and will be held at the Marina Hub Mihab, in the Marina de Arrecife.
