The new ports commission of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa held its constitutive session this week. This working committee is of an insular nature, so it will address the needs of all ports of economic interest, beyond that of Arrecife and with special attention to that of the Island of La Graciosa. Its main objective, according to the chamber, is to "provide solutions that favor the business economic activity linked to port operations".
The president of the Chamber, José Valle, explains that "for years the focus has been on improving the infrastructure of the ports, some of them are now in a position to take the next step: the marketing of their services to generate economic activity".
Valle believes that the port of Arrecife could offer support to the port of Las Palmas, which is saturated in some of its services. "For this reason, the commission will work on the creation and achievement of objectives that allow working with the private and public sectors to attract that activity," he said.
Ports are one of the priority objectives of attention for the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The work guidelines defined in this commission will be aligned and will serve to reinforce the other major objectives set within the general strategy: Lanzarote 2030, Tourism and Training.
The new committee is made up of members of the chamber's plenary session and agents and actors involved in the management and operation of the ports, such as representatives of the administration and port business activity. All parties form a community that will work according to a roadmap that has already begun to be drawn.
